Health and Welfare
As of 2008, there were 12 hospitals in the province, 8 of which were government-owned and 4 were privately-owned. Total bed capacity was 277, or a ratio of 1,550 persons to one hospital bed.
Government health personnel in 2008 numbered 172, a decrease of 18.62 percent from the previous year. There were 12 physicians practicing in the province; 22 nurses; 100 midwives; 9 dentists; and 29 other government health personnel.
