In 2008, the total number of hospitals in the province was 24 comprising eight government-owned and sixteen privately-owned hospitals. The total bed capacity was 443 or a ratio of 1,742 persons for every hospital bed.
Government health personnel in 2008 totaled 185. They were composed of 17 physicians, 26 nurses, 98 midwives and 44 other government health workers.
A total of 68,516 users of family planning methods were reported in 2008. Around 11.7 thousand of them were new acceptors and 56.8 thousand were current users.
Among the methods of family planning, the use of pills was the most preferred method by both the current users and new acceptors.
